Yugo M70AB2 with under folder....

I have no knowledge base for the AK line of firearms except for the very, very basics. How does the Yugo M70AB2 with under folder stack up? Would like to get one for my brothers B.O.B. I have mine already filled and he needs something and this caught me eye. $469 and new manufacture.

Thanks in advance,

Beentown

yugo m70ab2

Just make sure it has the RPK reinforcement (the bulge on the upper front of the receiver). It makes the stamped receiver more rigid and thus more accurate. Most recent shipments do not have this reinforcement, have a thinner receiver, and the safety does not line up with the impressions. It is still above average, however.

Is it still "steel plate" accurate at 100 yards without the reinforcement?

Now see that is why I asked. I always heard that the Yugo is a better/more accurate firearm than the Romanian WASR I like the fact that the WASR also comes with more mags.

Any more info would be greaty appreciated,

If it's the 1 with the new american made barrel http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.as...B2T&groupid=11 , the searches that i have done on them say they are not very accurate at all. The older one's with the chrome lined barrel were accurate.

The new barrels are reportedly made by Green Mountain, and mine has been easily "steel plate accurate" at 100 yards since day one.

Also, there have never been any "older ones" with chrome lined barrels. The Yugos never used chrome lined barrels in their AK's or their SKS's that I am aware of.

The M70AB2 rifles are very well built for the most part. Most have new, American made barrels and heavy (1.6mm) receivers. I would not hesitate to buy another one if I felt the need.

Here is a comparison of three common rifles: (Note: The chart has a typo showing the "Romanian M70AB2". It should actually read "Yugoslavian M70AB2".)
