Good Idea? Idiot scratch on Manufactures Web site

I personally did contact Colt about this image on their web site months ago. They did take it down for a while, but now it is back!

My question is why? Do you think that this is just an "Opps" or is it intentional? Or ...

It is a little weird. It's not like they don't have another sample to use for a picture.

Below the slide lock? I guess I don't see the problem.

If your not careful, you will end up with a mark there.
my slide lock has a rough reassembly, I have to depress the
check ball slightly for it to insert fully. If you try to force it, you cant.
I have had my SS for about 15 years, and it's got it's share of dings.

Colt's quality and management issues seem to extend to their website, which just finally got updated about 5 years of nothingness.

1911s should come pre-scratched, so their owners would just get over it.

Is that rust or grease just above the safety? Almost looks like rust. I see they are still using plastic parts too.

Here's what I think happened....Colt had a whole crate of guns that were accidentally scratch in the same spot during manufacturing. Rather than waste the guns, colt shipped them and put a pic on the website to make it look intentional.

Oh for God's sake!! even a web wienie can Photo Shop that off the image. I'm sure that is the attitude that has put Colt where it is today....

I like that!

Look at other aspects of the gun - the grip safety, the hammer, even the trigger. This is obviously a used gun. My eye didn't catch the scratch the first time I looked, then I looked again and there it was, glaring at me.

It sure would be nice if someone could make a gun that isn't plastic, and has a polished metal finish that won't scratch. I'm not asking for too much, am I?

On another note - new 10mm Delta Elite with " forged stainless steel frame, slide, slide stop, and barrel..." Niiiiiiiiiiiice. I like.

I think it's right up there with Colt's standards now.

S&W is posting pics of their guns with heavy rings on the cylinders. Not so much a case of the guns looking that way out of the box, but mine had a ring after five minutes of dry-fire; they're preparing the buyer for what the gun will look like, not what it does look like when new?

If that's used, then my guns look like they've fallen in a wood chipper

Wait! I know what the problem is! Thats Colts "Russian" model. Thats actually the safety, not the slide stop.

I have to admit, it made me laugh. The photographer should be fired, as should the web master.

if it was Kimber's website, we could all jump on the MIM-out-of-spec slide release that caused it.

Looks like the photo was not retouched at all. You can also see the scratches on the grip safety...I guess its there to add character. At least "what you see is what you get".

But if a company's photography skills is relevant to quality control, then HK's must be pretty crappy.

Wait.... Chris..... a mentally deficient primate could do it in 30 seconds but.... it would take you 2 minutes? That's funny right there, I don't care who you are!
