Are you using jacket bullets of the same diameter? I'd say you're safe with just seating another bullet in the case if so. I pulled about 100, 70gr Nosler BT .243's and replaced them with 88gr Berger's so I could work up a load for a new rifle. I didn't have any problems with them.

Pulling a bullet from a rifle case will leave the neck expanded a slight bit more than it would be just after being full length sizing. Replacing another bullet will leave you with a very low bullet pull. It would be hard to duplicate that when doing normal reloading after firing those rounds. It would not be dangerous to shoot them without resizing the necks first.
If they were loaded with a slow burning powder, they might have erratic ignition and lousy accuracy. |

Agree with Snuffy. After pulling a bullet, I always resize the case so that case neck tension will be the same as all other normally loaded rounds.

done it
Done it, plenty, but neck sized back on my full length 2 die set. Took the decapping pin out of expander ball and ran'em through that way, didn't lose the primer. Never accuracy tested, but worked fine for 100 yd parctice w/ .308.

I just had to pull a hundred 200 Gr lead SWC in .45 ACP (loaded 4 Gr. H110 instead of 4 Gr. bullseye) None made it to the crimp die. should I run 'em as is or run them thru the size and bellmouth die's again? Thanks, Paul

Red there's a good chance the loads with the H110 the bullet wont make it out of the barrel, you better pull`em and start over

Yep, my thoughts exactly. I allready pulled 'em. I'm gonna bell the case mouths before I try to seat the lead SWC's and see what the crimp looks like, might have to resize again to get them right. Thanks, Paul

Welp, I finally got back to the bench and tried loading a few without any additional case prep,(just the way they came out of the puller) My cast lead SWC have a slight bevel in the base and seated and crimped just fine. A couple shaved a tiny bit of lead, but this batch is gonna be set aside for plinking in my Mectech carbine, not the racegun or the bullseye gun, so I'm not likely to notice any long lasting problems from my braindead screw up. Paul.
