Recommended loads for S&W 9mm Sigma
Hi all, I just picked up a new(to me) S&W Sigma 9mm. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this gin, and could recommend any specific loads for it.
I currently load .45ACP, and .44 magnum, and would like to stick with one powder, and I see that W231 can be used in all three. which is currently what I use in my .45, and my .44 for plinking. Or a recommendation of a different powder that I can use in all 3 cals. Thanks Spleify |

I loaded Magnus 124gr LRN, 3.1gr of CLays, CCI SP 300 Primers. Worked for me as target loads.

Probably depends on what you're going to use it for. My standard target load for my M&P9 is 4.2 gr. of Hodgdon Longshot with a 124 gr. lead bullet, COAL of 1.125", using Winchester small pistol primers. I also have a CZ-75 that doesn't like that load as much, so I'm currently using 4.0 grains of 231 with a COAL of 1.140 with the same 124 gr. lead bullet. I don't shoot IPSC (yet!), so I'm not concerned with making any sort of power factor at this point. These loads are relatively mild, the Longshot load chrono's at about 950 fps and the 231 load clocks in at around 1040.
I also substitute 124 gr. FMJ (Montana Gold) for the lead bullet. Using the same powder charges, the velocities are a little slower (Longshot load is around 885 fps), but the FMJ's are cleaner, not as much smoke. Hope that helps! Enjoy the new Sigma! Cheers! 6.6gr power pistol with a 125gr FMJ or [even rainer works fine for me].
this replicates a cor-bon +p of the same weight. power pistol makes standard to hot loads better than light loads. standard disclaimer applies. |

Thansk for the info folks!
I will primarily only be punching paper with these, so I don't need anything special. I am going to make some up with the W231 and see how they go, I would really like to use one powder for everything. Thanks again |

I don't reload but i can say that so far my Sigma 9 has had no trouble eating everything I've fed it, Range reloads and factory ammo, so you shouldn't have any issues.

I should also mention, I like using jacketed bullets. I usually use JRN bullets.
Thanks |
