One more reason to boycott walmart...
I went in today to buy some ammo, and they now have official limits on how much you can buy.
![]() according to the associate in Sporting Goods (who was arguably a douchebag) they will only sell 6 boxes of ammo (all the same or mix & match) per customer, per day. this even included 22lr ammo. the loophole is, that bulk packs count as one piece. so you can still buy bricks of 22lr, 100-packs of .223 or pistol ammo, etc. but no more than 6 SKU's per person, per day. comments or rants? |

Considering the ruthless nature of some hoarders it is a fine policy by me... Maybe the random box here or there will be available if and when I need it...

Since so many people have been griping about folks buying it all up, and reselling it at gun shows or the net, seems to me like they're trying to give more people a chance at getting a few boxes...instead of it all going to 1 or 2 folks.

Walmart's policy is fine with me.
I have no issues with Walmart's policy. All they had today locally was the Federal Bulk 22LR. It stays on the shelf longer, and that's just fine with me.

i just bet that if it were duck season, the same limit on shotgun shells would not apply.
we have a pretty crappy walmart, but i usually try to stock up when they get the cheap stuff in stock... guess i gotta plan out my purchases a little better now. 6 months ago i would have been hacked off about it, but since i reload now, it doesn't bother me so much |

I have to agree with their policy. In our small town it is one of only a few places to get ammo sad to say, and like other stores elsewhere ammo is scarce. Before they started this policy many were waiting when a new shipment came in. However when it arrived it so happened a out of state customer happened to be there and bought EVERY box of ammo. Now here we sit hoping another shipment will arrive. This kind of rude behavior is why the new policy is good for everyone. And I would love to see ChineMart get out of the gun buisness and let the PROFFESIONAL gun stores return.

I have no problem with that as long as they don't jack the prices up like Dick's and Gander did here. The Gander here is selling WWB 40 cal 50 rounds 250% higher than Wal Mart. I don't begrudge the companies making a profit but don't use the shortage to rape the customers. As I have stated many times I will remember the stores that ripped us off and will do without before I buy from them in the future.

Hmmmm..... someone's not happy because people buy up all the ammo soon as it hits the shelves..... someone isn't happy because there are limits on how many boxes per person now.......

Walmart has brought in lots of ammo, all scarfed up within a few hours. They have not scalped the public by raising their prices. Kudos to Walmart IMO. Boycott them??? Why?

good luck finding a store in central Texas that has 6 boxes of anything
The walmarts here only seem to have 12 guage bird shot left. I have been having a hard time finding 45 acp for range use anywhere around here. 2 stores have wolf steel case 35 bucks for 50 rounds. I think that is why they still have it. Or else it is premium defense loads that cost about 2 bucks a shot. Acadamy same thing. I found one that still had some 40 s@w and 38 spcl. left.
I thought about a reloading set up and had to look for hours to find brass. Bullets for relading are becoming scarce as well as molds for lead to roll your own. |

untill the ammo shortage comes to an end, it is fine by me! i can not believe how bad this has gotten, and how long it has lasted. i am all for having a "stash". i have a small one myself. but lets face it, how many DECADES worth of ammo do you need to store? besides, realisticly, if you have 200,000+ rounds in storage, AND they outlaw ammo, the word will probably get leaked out eventually. and then either people will be knocking on your door, or you will become a target for theives or government agencies.

I think that would be a good reason not to boycott Wal Mart.
Limits on ammo in the current market make sense to me (yeah, I know it goes against free trade and free markets). I notice some of the on line sites are now putting limits on purchases when they have ammo in stock and I think that's a good idea too. The policy will allow more shooters a chance to buy a few rounds and continue shooting. It will also aggrevate those inclined to hoard or profit by reselling if they can get large quantities. |

This is a great idea, saves some ammo for us non-ammo hoarders

How can one argue with this policy? More people get a piece of the action, in this case ammo. I am not sure it is a nation wide policy, though it may be. Some Walmarts have had a two box limit for several months. So six box limit is more than reasonable.
Someone has to tell me why it is worse to be able to get a limit of six boxes than nothing which is just about what is out there right now. I stop in my local Walmart when I work late around 9:30 or when I go in early around 6:30. One in five times they have something I need. One night I watched them unpack all the ammo they received and it was a single box of Remington 223, 45 grains. That was it. I would love to be able to get six boxes of anything. It is their store so why the fuss and they do have about the best prices you can find anywhere, no price gouging from them. Relax and look at it as a positive. |

I don't have a problem with the 6 per day policy.
I just hope the one I go to gets some ammo. |

Tough
Three words: Free Enterprise System. WalMart should be allowed to sell what they want, how much they want, and for whatever price they want, period!!!!!

We've got a whole new segment of the population getting into shooting now. It must be pretty frustrating when they can't get enough to bring to a class, much less to shoot casually. Some folks are profiteering in a rather ghoulish and unsporting way. Many others are stockpiling for whatever catastrophe it is they heard about from Bob at the office. In any case, I'm sorry you didn't prepare. I think it was Farnham who said if you wait until a crisis is upon you, then you're behind the curve. I know this comes off as crass, but I'm getting bugged constantly by people about it, and until the weird panicky vibe wears off, the hoarding will continue, as will the shortages.

So, now we're supposed to boycott WalMart because they put a limit in the number of boxes of ammo that one can buy at any one time in an effort to make sure as many people as possible can buy ammo.
BUT We're also supposed to boycott WalMart because they DON'T put a limit on the number of boxes of ammo that one can buy at one time and that is allowing speculators and profiteers to swoop in a buy up pallet loads of ammunition, leaving others with nothing? How about we just all learn to live with this shortage as best we can and hope that it breaks soon instead of calling down a boycott every three to five minutes? Closed.
