Im looking into purchasing a 80% frame, can anybody recomend one? Also I read on another site that ppk and p228 incomplete recievers were available but I couldnt find any on google. Has anybody completed one? If so how did it go?

I bought a pistol awhile ago that looked and was advertized to be a beater mix-master USGI 1911. Found out after really looking at it that the frame was an 80% job that had been deliberately disguised as a USGI gun with semi-legitimate serial number to match (from the 'disputed' range produced following WW1, which actually became parts guns in WW2, but records indicating specifics are absent).

Anyway, long story short, the frame was a true hack job that probably could never have been made right, and I was scared to shoot it after looking at the super sloppy tolerances and shady metal quality. After my experience, I would NEVER consider an 80% frame to be the start of any kind of quality weapon, even if I assembled it. The BATF has deemed their existence questionable at the least.

Most of the semi-custom shops like Les Baer or companies like Caspian will sell legitimate stripped frames that are a whole lot better quality, and they are very much worth the investment.
