Taurus PT145: No Longer Made?

The owner of my local gun store told me today that Taurus is no longer making the PT145. About two weeks ago I asked him to order one (he didn't any in stock.) I hadn't heard from him, so I called him today. He said he could only find a blue one (I want SS) and that they're hard to find because Taurus has stopped making them.

Does any of this make sense? If they have stopped making them, do they plan to replace the gun with a newer model? A gun store about 2 hrs away has one, but for $100 than my guy. I don't wanna make that kinda drive and pay $100 extra if I don't have to.

Thanks.

My first instinct is to say that he's explaining away his inability to get you one with a fish story. The PT145 is clearly popular - I hear about them everywhere. Why would Taurus discontinue a money-maker?

On the other hand, Taurus is coming out with a compact 24/7 which may complete with the PT145. Actually, according to the published specs, the compact 24/7 is still pretty big. This theory seems weak.

My money is on the fish story.

I am thinking the same thing.

I haven't heard of the compact 24/7...sounds interested (but still big, as you say.(

You'll find the one you want on either GunBroker or Auction Arms. That's probably the way to go unless he charges a lot for a transfer...

You could probably tell by checking out the Taurus International website.

Regardless, I do believe a 24/7 compact is on the way.

The PT145 is discontinued... long ago.

The PT145 Millenium Pro is currently in production in both blue and stainless.

I had assumed we were talking about the current production version of the PT145.

Yes, the original PT145 is no longer made. Nor is the PT145 Millinium.

The PT145 Millenium Pro is what I was wanting...you're right, he could have been looking for just the PT145. I guess I need to call him and check.

The Taurus Millennium PRO PT145 is cataloged and available per the Taurus web site. They list only the blue steel model.

The model number is: 145BP.

The UPC is: 7-25327-31133-1

The order number is: 1-145031P

This should be all your FFL needs to order you one.

However, Davidson's is out.

A search of the RSR Group site reveals that they DO have the stainless slide model.

The order number is: TI145039P

The blued steel order number is: TI145031P

Your dealer should be able to get you one!!
Have him call RSR Group at 1-800-634-4867.

Actually, he has a blue one, but can't get a SS one. Any idea why stainless is not available? Taurus has not yet returned my calls.

Edit:

I found stainless on the Taurus website: http://taurususa.com/products/produc...ategory=Pistol
