Can anybody point me towards a smith who is known for top quality work (particularly action jobs) with the Colt Python?

Dave Clements, well known for his big bore revolvers, lives only an hour from me. Unfortunately, he don't do Colts

The gang over at 1911forum highly recommended Reeves Jungkind... a top 100 smith per Am Handgunner

his contact is:
REEVES C. JUNGKIND
5001 Buckskin Pass
Austin, TX 78745
(512) 442-1094

I personally have never heard of him, so can anyone shed any light on Mr Jungkind's work or can recommend any other pistolsmiths?

TIA

Not sure if Reeves is still accepting work. Ayoob had an article about him several years ago and mentioned that he only works on new (NIB) guns. Worth a call..

Another one is George Wessinger in Chapin SC. He does good work, still a one man shop though. (not fast) He is also an AH 100 member. Number is (803) 345-5677.

Bob Dunlap who is somewhere in Oregon. He was my instructor at LE Armourers' School (Susanville, CA). He made those AGI tapes.

Check out this old thread on Pythons. I think you will enjoy it:

Thanks for the responses everyone! Got some good tips also over at John Taffin's site. Those mentioned were Fred Sadowski (deceased), Jerry Moran (unavail now), Reeves Jungkind, Walt Sherman and Jim Rose. Consesus seems that Reeves is the best IF you can obtain his services.

Thanks again / bk
