Great Gun Related Shopping Experience
it seems that more often than not I hear of people having a bad experience shopping while carrying their firearm, either open or concealed. Well I would like to relate a very positive experience that I had recently had while shopping in Gainesville, Texas.
I was shopping for a vest that would conceal my handgun(Bersa .380) while it is in my belt holster. I left the gun in the truck because I knew I would be trying on different vests and did not want to be accused of "brandishing". One of the the sales ladies that was helping me asked why I thought I needed a vest slightly larger than my size. I explained that I carried concealed and that I did not want my firearm to "print" on the vest. She asked where my gun was currently and when I told her that I left in the truck so that I would not scare her or other customers in the store. She looked at me like I was silly and told me to go get my firearm so I could get a proper fit. I not only purchased the vest that I liked, I also purchased a sport coat, and new belt. At check out the manager said that since I had brought my CCW license and my firearm with me, she was giving me a discount. GREAT!!! This is a very small privately owned chain of stores, one in Gainesville, Texas and one in Wynnewood, OK. I will continue to give them my business, not only because of the great service I received, not only to support the "little guy", but because they are very gun friendly. I have seen many reports on anti-gun stores and people saying that they would not shop there until policies change, I thought everyone might like to hear a positive experience for a change. I would post the name of the store, but I don't want anyone to think I am spamming the forum. If anyone would like to know, and it is OK with the moderators, I would be happy to post the name and location(s). I, for one, would like to hear of other positive experiences like mine. If the businesses are in Oklahoma or North Texas, I would like to see if I could throw my business their way. Comments welcome and lets support those who support us. Since the forum staff has requested the name of the store I visited, I will happily post it. Steppin Out I35 North (about 3 miles from the OK/TX state line) Gainesville, TX I am not sure of the store name in Wynnewood, OK, but it can be seen from I35. I have yet to visit that store, but I do plan to visit this weekend. Last edited by Oklahoma Redneck; March 23, 2012 at 04:44 PM. |

Very cool. Tell them to open a place in Michigan next time you visit.

I would for sure be giving them all the business and referrals I could. I try to stay away from the big-box stores as much as I can anyway.
I am sure most of you have heard the old marketing axiom- "If a customer is treated well in a store they will tell two of their friends. If a customer has a bad experience they will tell everybody that will listen." |

My best gun shopping experience is at Rock Island Auction, even though its hard for me to buy much. They encourage you to pick up and examine what I consider museum pieces. Of course, these are the folks running the auction, not the owners. They do get me to bid on quite a few things, but my bids normally peter out fairly quickly as I watch prices go beyond anything I can pay.
