Been a while... And my new toy!

What's up folks? Just found my old user name and guessed the password. Man, it's been a WHILE since I was here. Can't even remember why I left really. I'm wanting to think the board went offline (read-only/archive type thing) at one time. Is that right? I want to think that's when I stopped coming here.

Anyway, still pluggin' away in LE out here in Georgia and wastin' money on the cool hardware. Just picked up a new Homeland Security edition Sig P229R DAK this week and man is that DAK system sweet. I had been waiting to find one in stock somewhere to try out and as soon as I felt the DAK trigger I knew I had to have it. Even spent the extra $$$ for the limited edition Homeland Security model because it was the only DAK they had in stock. It's sort of a shame to use a "1 of 1000" piece as a shooter/carry piece, but I couldn't see buying a gun as a gunsafe queen.

I had gotten away from .40 cal, going to .357SIG and 9MM for my uses so I only had a 20 rnd box of Speer Gold Dot to play with so far (until I can get to my supplier and get 1k more rounds) but that was enough to get a decent feel for the DAK in action. Also done some dry firing to get more familiar with the trigger and the more I use it the more I love it.

Enough talk, here's a few pics... The "group" here is actually two subgroups. From approx 10 yards, two handed, unsupported in 41 degree weather (cold, stiff fingers). First group (circled in green) I had the black dot on top of the front sight. The blue group had the front sight just covering the dot. Two rounds were "lost" in the small cluster hole in the green group as I can only flag 18 individial hits and I know I didn't miss an 18" pizza box.

You're shooting a little low and seem to favor the left a little ...

Yep, been a WHILE since I shot anything double-action so I've gotta get used to the trigger again. Shot Glocks too long now.

Thanks. Groups should get better with more rounds and more dry firing. Not bad for my first time shooting an unfamiliar trigger system though I guess.

Maybe my sarcasm was not duly noted ... I WISH I could shoot that well at 30 feet with a brand new firearm DA no less.

Wow, thats a nice group!

Congratulations with your new pistol, have fun with it.........but one question: Why the .357sig?
The .40S&W 135grain and the 124grain .357sig are nearly the same cartridge.

Thanks. But, ummm... It's a .40. Edit: Oh wait, you meant why go from .40 to .357SIG... I just liked the performance numbers of the .357SIG and decided to go with it. Not because it was better, but more because it was different. I guess the novelty attracted me. I just recently sold all my .357SIG caliber pistols (all Glocks) and I'm in the process of going back to .40 and 9mm. I want another Glock 23, and a Sig P226R DAK 9mm and I should have my pistol arsenal back where I want it. so, I guess you could say I was just tryin' somethin' different when I went to .357SIG.
