Browning Comes Thru

Shooters;
Well, the good folks at Browning finally came up with an extractor for my .22 auto rifle. Only took six months!
Now that the rifle is functional, is there anything I need do to prevent the extractor breaking again, if indeed it is preventable? Or do they just break after a lot of use? The gun is from the ‘60’s ($69) The only problem I ever had. And it would work most of the time even with the busted part. Just blew ‘em out, I guess. Thanks!
