.300 RSAUM...any opinions?

Just in case I don't have enough rifles already, am looking for a new caliber to go with. It is to be highly accurate, e.g. 1/2 MOA or better (1/4 MOA would be really nice!) and to be used for deer hunting mostly, with the occasional elk. (Yeah, I know that's more accurate than anybody needs, but heck, I cut my shooting teeth as a target shooter, and can't get the accuracy thing out of my system.) Have been reading the raves about the new short fat cartridges and what I read mostly makes sense, but have not had any input from someone actually using them.

To further complicate matters, a seasoned shooter whose opinion I respect suggested I consider the .35 Whelen, in part because he thinks that a .30 cal. bullet is too small for elk, and in part for the accuracy.

So any input would be appreciated.
