Hi Everyone. I just purchased a Marlin 1894c the other day. It was alot cheaper than I thought, so now I have some additional money left over

The only real use for a scabbard is to attach the carbine to a saddle or 4-wheeler.
The accessory most used is a good sling. |

High on your list should be a good receiver sight. Lyman and Williams make good peep sights, as does Ashley Outdoors. The longer sight radius will really enhance accuracy, and they are more "authentic" than a scope.
Watch out for recommendations from Shin-Tao, though. If you follow his advice, your 1894 will end up looking like this! ![]() ![]()

Or you could put an Ashley Outdoors scout mount on it and a Leupold 2x scope.

CarbineKid, I have an 1894cp also. Unless your eyes are getting really bad why even bother with a scope. I found the sights just seem to naturally line up as they are. I'm much more accurate with my Marlin than any other rifle (with iron sights) I've got. Adds more weight but not much gain. The .357 is not much good beyond 100yds so iron sights would probably be fine out to that distance. You'd incur a penalty in speed of picking up your target and weight, so would you gain enough in accuracy to offset the penalties?
I don't hesitate to modify any of my guns if I think the mod will make it work/fit better. (I'm not a purist - "keep it stock") But the 1894 just seems so perfect the way it is. That said, if I can find a set of synthetic stocks for it. I really would like to use it as my truck gun but I don't want the wood stocks to get banged and scratched up. |

I think your right. Im going to leave it stock. Hey, for some reason the blueing on my gun is weak...very weak. The bluing on the bolt and hammer is already wearing off, and i havn't even fired it yet......is this normal?

A good receiver sight, like the Williams, sure would be faster and more accurate than the stock open sights though...Much.

Hey!
Don't you guys get it? You've got to be TACTICAL! If you aren't tactical then you are just ignorant. Look at the ULTIMATE TACTICAL URBAN PRECISION .44 CARBINE. That is what you need. And put a MAGPULL on the lever! |

That's beautiful! Love it.
Wish I had photopoint or the like--I'd love to rig an image of a Marlin or Win 94 with both Thompson pistol grips and an AK-style underfolding stock. ![]() Best, Johnny |

carbinekid, I'm not sure what you mean by weak bluing. Mine is a deep rich blue and I've not seen any signs of wear. Maybe take it to the gunshop and ask a gunsmith or just compare it to some of the other Marlins they have.
Shin-Tao, I'm just too old to be tactical. I'm not terrribly PC either. Some things are just classics and shouldn't be messed with. I'll just sit in my easy chair and shoot the young bucks as they do their tactical thing. |
