reloading 7.5 swiss

What loads have folks worked up for the 7.5 Swiss and the K31 Schmidt Rubin as the platform?
Thanks,
Carl

For my 1911 S-R

I run a moly-coated 168gr Sierra MatchKing, Norma 7.5x55 brass, Federal 210 Match Primers, and a comfortable load of IMR4895. With the 30" barrel, I don't need a heavy load of powder to get .308 Winchester velocities out of the old girl. Accuracy is downright scary, as a mater of fact, I've never met a Schmidt-Rubin in good condition that didn't shoot well.

For the shorter K31, you won't get quite the same velocities, but I'll wager they're gonna be close...

Here's some load info I collected last summer. Averages are from 5-shot groups in each load. No flattened primers from any of these. I haven't clocked the Norma match ammo for comparison, but these loads felt milder on my vaguely-calibrated shoulder.

Norma Brass, TTL 2.175", 2.920" OAL, Sierra 168 MK, Win WLR primer

H4895 - Vel. StdDev.
(gn) -- (fps) (fps)
41.5 -- 2425 10.7
42.0 -- 2451 16.8
42.5 -- 2485 15.9
43.0 -- 2514 19.7
43.5 -- 2536 13.9

The 42.5 gn load seemed to be the most accurate as best I could determine at the time using the standard sights at 100 yd., so I've been using that one for the time being.

This OAL is about 0.20" off the lands on MY rifle. The throat length on K-31s seems to be on the short side, so be sure to carefully measure your max OAL for each bullet/case combo in YOUR rifle.

Do a Google search for Swiss Rifle Forum. Lots of good info there.
