I use the Lee Pro Auto Disk powder measurer (and love it...very accurate). The only problem is the 'fixed' charge...hard to do any load development. Does anyone have experience with and recommend the Lee Adjustable Charge Bar? Anyone have experience using the double disk kit?

I use the adjustable charge bar, exclusively, when loading with my crappy Lee Loadmaster. I even modifed a charge bar so that it would work with a nonmodified charge bar and work in the Double Disk Kit. I like the adjustable charge bar, but don't use the Double Disk Kit, per the following:

If you're going to load rifle ammo on a Loadmaster, be sure and buy a case headspace gage, eg., Wilson, as you'll find that the design of the shellplate is such that you can't bump the shoulder enough for a proper headspace.

Thanks Walter. I don't have a Lee Loadmaster (or a Lee press) so I won't have to worry about the headspace problem. There is another gent on this forum who affectionately refers to the Loadmaster as the "Loadtrasher". It's too bad not all of the Lee products are as functional and reliable as the Pro Auto Disk, hand primer, case trimmer etc.

I've used the charge bar, but I removed it.

I wasn't happy with the consistency it was giving me.

With the disks in place, it would be EXTREMELY unusual for a charge to deviate at all from the scale setting.

With the charge bar, it was not uncommon to see swings of up to .2 on either side of the desired mark.

So, I took it off, and stuck it back in the closet.

I had the same experience as Mike Irwin, except mine was +-.3 grains.

Thanks gents....

when I called Lee, the tech suggested the disk kit over the charge bar.
