Andrew Owens
It's with sadness I post my friend Andrew Owens aka hooligan1 passed away this morning, losing his battle with leukemia. We started talking shortly after he joined this forum. While my first impression of him was he's more Redneck than Uncle Si Robertson. Andy didn't have much, but he'd give what he had if he thought you needed it.
He liked old sporter battle rifles, Mauser and 1903 Springfields were his favorite. Mausers were his true favorite as he got the crest tattooed on his left thigh. However, he enjoyed all things firearm. His true love was his wife Sally who passed a few years before him, as well as his children and grandchildren. Next was his love of this country and his military service in the Army. He loved his home state of MO, especially the hunting and the fishing. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I only met Andy in person three times when work took me to Kansas City for training. He lived right across the border in Independence MO, a fitting place for the way he lived. He either took me on a tour of the WWI museum or some of KC's best BBQ joints. He also treated me to his pitmaster skills a couple of those times. ![]() I'll definitely miss our conversations, and the fact I won't get to share pictures of our families hunting accompliments.

Thank you for informing us of his passing. I recall reading his posts and thinking 'this is a good guy' - maybe influenced by my agreeing with him.
Your respect, affection, and sense of loss come through in your writing. May his memory be a blessing. |
