Model 150 Leatherneck
Helping an older man with prepping his collection for possible sale. He is in his 90’s, and hasn’t cleaned them in quite a few years and is no longer able to do so. That is mainly where I am helping out. Couple of very nice guns. Immaculate 1954 K-38 Combat Masterpiece, great condition Browning BAR. The one I am working on now is a Model 150 Leatherneck. Unfortunately, from a collectors viewpoint, someone reblued the old girl previous to purchase by the gentleman 30-40 years ago. It is a beautiful, tastefully done job, but still. It is one built around 1952 as it has the elongated trigger guard. Thing is it is in a Model 151 stock as it has the cut out for a diopter sight. I really wish guns could talk. I wonder if it is one of the final run of the 150’s and there were no other stocks available, or whether it was a replacement. Due to the fact the gun was reblued, I decided to completely redo the stock as it had a few scratches in the wood and it did make a tremendous difference in the appearance of the gun. It works well with the excellent bluing job on the rifle. Just wondering how much it affects the value. Half? Still, the gun looks really nice, probably better than factory new. Bore is nice and bright too. What is the gun worth now? Would like to give the man a fair assessment. Would appreciate some ideas here.
