Transporting guns through Wyoming?
Am planning to visit brother in Idaho later this year. Will be taking a handful of long guns and handguns for recreational and SD purposes. Will most likely drive through Wyoming.
I'm having a hard time finding all the information about transporting firearms through Wyoming. I'm from IL and do not have reciprocity with WY. According to all the gun info sites I've looked at, including the Wyoming Highway patrol, as non-resident I can have a loaded handgun with me in the car so long as it is not concealed. But I can't find any info. about other guns in the car like my long guns and non-SD hand guns. Help! Life is good. Prof Young |

Perhaps you should consider getting a non-resident Arizona, Florida, or Utah concealed weapons permit. Wyoming recognizes those permits, and they are obtainable by mail.

Loaded, it must be visible.
Unloaded, it doesn't matter. That's pretty much it. Wyoming is not a "Utah unloaded" state. If you are unfamiliar, that means that loaded cartridges in the magazine count as a 'loaded' firearm in Wyoming. (Utah requires only the chamber to be empty, and, at least for several decades, was the only state to have that definition.)

Your Illinois training satisfies Florida's, so you can get a Florida CCL. You can also get a Utah CCL but Florida is a bit more useful, mainly if you want to carry in Florida since Florida does not recognize a Utah non-resident CCL or Illinois.
