Star 30m With a Cracked Slide Release Lever
I need a slide release for a Star 30m. I tried Numrich, but they're out of stock.
Is there another source that you all might know of? Is it possible that a 1911-style part would be a suitable substitute? Thanks in advance! |

Try JackFirst.
All comes to worse, it can be made (but use 4140)

The Star 30M is nothing like a 1911, so a 1911 part would not work. Most parts for Star and Astra pistols dried up about 20-ish years ago. You can make a part (or have somebody make one for you). Either way, it's going to be time-consuming.

Basically it's a piece of round stock affixed to a flat bar right?
So you need two pieces of metal and a lot of time with files. I'd drill the flat bar first to take the round stock. Then I'd work on them separately until they're unitized by welding. Flat bar has to be cut down leaving the thumb-release and slide stop. A milling machine would be awesome to speed things up. I'd harden them and then temper followed by polishing & bluing. I made a loading gate for a replica SAA once. Some machine work but mostly hand work with a file.
