IMR Enduron powders...

A while back I picked up a couple pounds of IMR 4451 and a couple pounds of IMR4166 just for kicks and grins to see how well they shoot. Being a Metallic Silhouette competitor in Arizona, and a sometimes-hunter in South Dakota, I am interested in their temperature insensitivity and their reduction in copper fouling. Though those features are important, how they work accuracy wise is equally important, to me.

As I said, I am just getting started with my testing and I have already found a IMR 4451, 130 grain load for my .270 Winchester silhouette rifle that groups 1-3/4" at the 300 meters Javalina. Very promising indeed. Promising enough that I bought an 8# jug at the LGS.
From what I have read, 4451 is supposed to be good with 165/180/200 grain bullets in the .30-06, too. We'll see. I have lots of 165-168 grain bullets laying around.

I have only run one set of test loads on my favorite .308 and have a very promising load that is grouping 0.833" at 100 meters. I think we can tighten this up a bit with bullet seating depth adjustments, but will have to wait for a later date as I broke my left index finger last night just below the first knuckle. I am right handed, but holding the forearm of a moderate to heavy recoiling rifle is out of the question for awhile.

Anybody else been experimenting with these new powders?

I've had great success with 4166 in .308 Win.

Haven't seen any sensitivity to temp with it. I even stuck some in the freezer for a bit.

Here's a pic of best load when testing. 100yd.

Dang! Nice shooting, JR!

I thought my initial .308 groups were good averaging 0.833"! I can see I have some more work to do.

I have a pound of 4451 and a pound of 7977 ready to go. Really loving what I'm seeing in hodgdons load data for 7977 with 150 grain .270 amd it looks to be a top performer on .300 win mag too. 4451 should be great in my .243 and with lighter bullets in the other 2. Hope it's everything it's cracked up to be.

I scored a couple of pounds of 4955 last week. Yet to get to the reloading bench with it though.

I'm running IMR 4451 in my 6.5-06 and it loves it, completely running over h4831sc in consistancy, which was decent.
I want to try 7977 in my 7 mag..
