making a Buntline style SBR problem.
So I have the gun and the $200.00 set aside for the paper work. I started to fill out the form 1 and got stuck.
Because the gun is currently a pistol can I put the total length as the pistol length? Obviously I have not made the shoulder stock yet because that would be bad to have the pistol and the stock. I have no idea how long the over all length will be with the shoulder stock on the gun. I am thinking of making it my self but if I can find some one willing to make it I would rather let some one else do it. I still plan to carry it most of the time in the pistol format but to be able to put a stock on the gun if I feel like it. So do I just put the length of the pistol in the total length box or do I need to some how figure out the over all length before I get the shoulder stock?

Shot placement is everything! I would rather take a round of 50BMG to the foot than a 22short to the base of the skull. all 26 of my guns are 45/70 govt, 357 mag, 22 or 12 ga... I believe in keeping it simple. Wish my wife did as well... |

Yea, I don't think the law allows for that DeJa Vu.
It is my understanding that once you make the weapon into a Short Barrled Rifle, you also must "stamp" it with a new serial number and something else but I forget what that is, name perhaps. In essence you are creating a new weapon with a new serial number and that weapon is now classified and registered as a SBR. You are not simply applying for a permit to operate a pistol as a shortened rifle, You are applying to create a new rifle. These questions from the BATF's website will shed light on future modifications to the rifle. Quote:
http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/nati...#receiver-sale As for your question about the length, I believe you are going to find that the end result must be that the rifle is the length you say it will be. I think you better know what you are doing and what it will come out to be. Last edited by lcpiper; October 9, 2013 at 02:10 PM. |

No new serial number is required.
Gun must have your (the maker's) name, city, and state engraved on the receiver. |
