HK P2000SK .40 range report

This gun controls recoil very well for a small forty, much better than the Glock 27, though the baby Glock has less height making it fit in a pocket better. And of course the Glock is a whale of a lot cheaper.

Unlike the USP, the manual says no +P ammo; ergo the 40 is the better way to go in this model.

Function was flawless with Remington 165 fmj and Federal white box 180 fmj. The gun is very accurate and shoots more like a fullsize than a subcompact. How accurate? Accurate enough to use the numbers for targets. I love the heck out of it. Typically German outstanding fit and finish. Trigger both da and sa were accurate and controllable. Other than the aforementioned height my only complaint was hot brass in my collar and sandals. I was shooting at an indoor range, perhaps it was the confines. 9 round mags. Damn fine weapon all in all. I'm well pleased with my purchase.

I still shoot +P in my P2000sk in 9mm, lots of folks do. I just won't run a steady diet through it.

Agreed it is damn accurate.

Same is true for the 9mm, recoils noticeably less than other subcompact 9s.

Another thing I'm not crazy about is the finger rest on the magazine. I am looking for some flat magazine baseplates, no success thus far. If worse comes to worse I'll dremel some of the rubber off.

Of course everyone's hands and fingers fit guns differently.

I just went to the HKnet store. They were out at the time so I just had them notify me. For ten dollars you really cant complain. The extended really doesn't bother me but I have a woman's hands. My 9mm is pretty accurate, more than me. Its really big, im not complaining, but I have to loose weight to carry to carry it much. I think the two best things about it are the controls, I love the slide and mag release. And the trigger once I put a USP spring in it. A 10 pound USP spring can make all the difference in the world. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Check hkparts.net, it is the lifeblood of HK shooters.

Good suggestion tunnel, but they're out as well as I'm looking for some too.

I took my 9mm P2KSK out today for the first time and managed this at 12 yards. I still need to adjust to it a bit.

The P2000 series triggers smooth out very nicely after a while. My P2k full size has 3500 rounds through it and the DA and Sa are smooth as hell. Try changing the back straps and see if it improves your accuracy.

Ballistic AE

Main website with detailed information

The screen shot is from the IPAD version. Highly recommended, I have the Ipad and Iphone versions and they sync so you're always looking at the same data. It is made specifically for rifle, but I use it to track pistol groups as well. It is a very detailed application that includes the widely used JBM ballistic calculator as well as Brian Litz.
