Anyone using Vortex Crossfire II?
Hi fellas I'm building my second 10/22 which is a off hand plinking/steel/squirrel gun. I already have my bench 10/22 so this will only be for offhand. I've spent days reviewing scopes and the last 3 I've narrowed it down to are:
Vortex crossfire II 2-7x32 Nikon prostaff 2-7x32 Nikon prostaff 4x32 I'm really leaning towards the vortex and have a few of there other products which are amazing and the warranty is awesome. I just can't find many reviews on the scope. I found a few bad reviews on version I but not the newest model II. |

I'm pretty sure the Crossfire is made in China if that matters to you.
My 10/22 sports a cheap Tasco fixed 4x I bought at KMart back in the early 80s... If I was buying for it now, I would probably buy a Nikon M223 2-7x or something similar.

Vortex Crossfires is Vortex lower end offering made in china and I would go for the Nikon Prostaff over the Crossfire. I am not a brand fanboy I have two Vortex Viper PSTs they are as good as it gets in the $1000.00 price range IMO, but I try to stay away from optics made in China and yes there's a huge difference between whats made in the Philippines and whats made in China.

Have a Crossfire II 3-9x40 on my Marlin 60; the only problem I have with the optic is the close focus; 25yards is near impossible, but anything beyond 30-40 yards is golden. They don't really market it as a rimfire scope, so that's my bad. I don't shoot inside of that range anyway, so no loss to me.
It's a great optic. Matches my Viper PST and Diamondback nicely. ![]() |

I just bought one for my 10/22 as well and for the 109.00, I really can't complain about the quality for the price. Very clear optics and a pretty good warranty. Highly recommended from my LGS.

I have a crossfire 2 the mag is 6-18x44 . It"s very clear up to about 14x then starts to get a little dirty . The turret tracking is not consistent and that is a big issue for me . If your going to set it and forget it . It would be a good scope . If you will be dialing a lot of firing solutions in to the scope I don't think it's the right one for the job .

Anyone using Vortex Crossfire II?
I checked both the nikon and vortex out yesterday at bass pro however they didn't have the magnification I was looking for. To be honest I think the vortex had better glass and they were both stamped made in Philippines. I also called vortex and they explained the crossfire II was completely redesigned. Does anyone have a vortex II 2-7x32 that can tell me where it says it was made. I'm concerned about buying one Online and receiving a made in china scope.

I have an older 6-24 Crossfire on one of my rifles. Eye relief at max magnification is "touchy", glass and tracking are better than what you'd expect in a scope for a couple of hundred bucks..
But that said, for any given price, they're a great value, and Vortex customer service/warranty (lifetime- no receipt, just send 'em the scope) is second to absolutely no one in the industry. Try to get that from any one else's "budget" optic. |

I just wanted to say I stand corrected on the Crossfire twos being made in China, I know the ones were, but now the twos are made in the Philippines and are probably pretty good for the money I would suspect.

Anyone using Vortex Crossfire II?
Update: thanks for all the help guys. I couldn't decide between crossfire and prostaff so I bought both! The nikon has won the spot on my off hand rig and the crossfire was returned for a refund.
The crossfire was a very good looking scope but the nikons crystal clear glass and better eye relief was perfect. I also couldn't stand how hard the power ring was to turn on the crossfire. I really like the vortex products and have a few of there other products however this is there lowest line made in china and didn't cut it for me. |
