Taurus Model 992 convertible
I have been wanting a double action 22lr revolver with a 6" barrel and had settled on a Smith and Wesson Model 617. The problem is they seem to be totally unavailable in any store I have been to and they can't even order one.
During my search I keep running across the Taurus 992 convertible. I've started thinking I just might get this instead as I've handled one and it seems like a solid revolver. I know there are a lot of Taurus haters out there but this particular gun seems to be getting rave reviews with Field and Stream including it on the Best of the Best 2012 award list. Gunblast also gave it a great review. My question is does anyone own one or shot one or know someone who own the 992? I would appreciate any feedback as I have a portion of my income tax refund set aside for a new toy and it is burning a hole in my pocket! |

I have read that the 992 weighs in at 55 ounces. 55 ounces?
![]() I have a charter arms pathfinder combo that only weighs 20 ounces. It's only got six shots, but I can carry it on hikes without noticing the weight. Last edited by Theophilus; February 26, 2013 at 03:04 PM. |

Sure it is pretty heavy but it will help with the recoil.
