Bud's and Cheaper than Dirt.

Are these two not selling guns cause of the recent events? Bud's won't even come up and CtD says they don't sell guns. Any one hear any thing?

I hear Cheaper is out, but not sure about Bud’s. Their WEB site may just be overloaded I know Brownells was hard to access last night.

After hearing about Cheaper Than Dirt, I checked Bud's. As of a few hours ago, they were listing guns, but I had to wait for an interstitial loading screen that scanned for DoS attacks.

I received an email from Buds. They sorry and are over loaded. Shipping is 2-3 weeks behind. They are working to Xmas out first. Then with everything else going on it has been a rush.
Quote:
We are sending this email to any and all customers who have placed an order on www.BudsGunShop.com in the past month. Many of you have been customers of ours for years, have placed multiple orders with us, and therefore understand that any delays in shipping or customer service you may have experienced recently are not normal for Buds. The combination of a presidential election, extremely disturbing events in the media, and also the upcoming Christmas season has resulted in our complete inability to communicate with every customer attempting to contact us or ship orders as timely as we normally would.

We sincerely apologize for any delay you may have experienced, or might be experiencing right now. Please be advised that although we admittedly cannot respond to every phone call, email, or Live Chat at this time....we continue to process and ship orders normally and will contact you if there is any issue with your order. If your order status indicates "processing" or "shipping" for an extended period of time....there is NOTHING wrong with your order, that simply means we have everything we need to ship your order and we are simply busy shipping orders that were received prior to yours. If you do not hear from us otherwise, your order will be processed and shipped in the order in which it was received.

For any customer who purchased a firearm with guaranteed delivery prior to Christmas as indicated with this icon we do commit to have those firearms delivered to your FFL no later than December 23, as we do not want to assume your dealer will be open on December 24th, Christmas Eve. This obviously only applies to customers whose orders have not already shipped, and many others will be delivered prior to December 23rd, we are just referring to the very last of the Christmas orders received.

The firearms that were marked with this icon when purchased will only be shipped after every Christmas firearm has been shipped. We did our very best to advise everyone of possible 2-3 week shipping delays for these items via icons, banners, and pop up messages during the checkout process. Once again, many orders will be shipped in less than 2-3 weeks, we are just referring to the worst case scenario.

Again, we do apologize for our inability to provide everyone with the level of service you deserve during this extremely difficult time.

We do appreciate your business and the confidence you have placed in us by selecting www.BudsGunShop.com as your firearm supplier.

We appreciate your patience,

Team Buds

What would Bud's Gun Shop sell if it did not sell guns? Would be sort of a bad business decision their part.

Cheaper than Dirt sells stuff other than firearms, and while I think its a bad business decision, its not my business and there are plenty of other places to buy my stuff online.

While I am no apologist for any of these businesses I say let’s give people a break at least for the short term. There is so much raw emotion and an overwhelming lack of logic right now that many in the profession don’t know which way to turn. Let the whole thing play out and see who our allies and opponents truly are and then make you decision on how to proceed.

In the mean time we need to do our part and contact our Congressman. Also, encourage your family and friends to do the same thing.

CTD is selling PMags for $59.99!!! Nothing like a little price gouging.

I read buds had some serious technical issues earlier, thats probably why their website is a little skewed right now.

@Boxing: Try to find a PMAG in stock online right now. Gouging is a relative thing; you can only charge what the market will bear. If you charge more in a free market people wont buy.

When I looked around lunch 44mag, topgun, midway all sold out of PMAGS. Brownells only had FDE 20 round PMAGS left in stock.

Seriously, if you can find PMAGS for $13.00 ea locally right now, it might be a good idea to buy 20 or 30. If you flip them at the right time you are liable to double your money in the next couple of weeks.

Buds' customer counter has hovered around 2 to 3 thousand customers online the past few months. Now it's in the "5800 Customers Online" range. They're swamped alright.

I certainly don't see any issues with CTD or Buds or any store temporarily halting firearm sales if they feel the need to. They know their policies and procedures better than any of us, and if there is something in them that needs tweaked, they have every right to hit the pause button and regroup. If Dicks or CTD or Buds had directly sold any firearm to the guy from Newtown, they would be feeling the wrath of millions right now, and it could literally put them out of business.

CTD price gouged in 08/09 also...I'll continue to pass. All of this coming at once starts a bad precedence and leaves a worse impression.

I was amused with the tagline that said cheaper than dirt will continue to be a leader for all of your outdoor sporting needs.

I purchased my very first firearm and handgun from Bud's and will continue to use them exclusively.

The "Boycott CTD" Facebook page has attracted 12,300 "likes"

https://www.facebook.com/BoycottCheaperThanDirt

So far, it's been 1,000 "likes" per hour.

I was just on CTD looking for some AK 30 rounders, alot of their mags are sold out. I did find some I wanted, but the shipping cost was more than the mag!

No past luck with CTD. THey messed up 2/3 orders for me. Dicks has low quality accessories for excessive prices. I only stop their if I need something last minute.

I am wondering if the traces on those guns lead to CTD and Dick's though. If they did it would be a BIG hit on both unless they were well out in front before it hit the news. ATFE would be all over them just to placate their handlers along with all the NGOs. If I were an FFL and sold those guns I might close shop for a while. If that turns out to be the case I can't hold their decisions against them. If it isn't the case I will.

Just posted on FB by Bud's:

"BudsGunShop
We have not pulled AR or any rifles for that matter. We are simply sold out of a lot of models. We will continue to list them as we receive them from our distributors. We will not stop selling them!"

Just got a email from them saying that they will not stop selling firearms. Just stopped at the moment to update their policy due to the overwhelming demand. They will continue to sell firearms in the future.

On another note. I wonder if Romney was president. Do you guys think he would not have been involved with a gun ban? Or at least pressured too like our president has been. I mean I know you guys are seeing him coming under fire for doing nothing in the last Four years to strengthen Gun laws. And also being under fire right this moment for not putting in to act sooner. I mean I love you guys like a brother but please stop the hatin.

Confirmed by CheaperThanDirt Online Chat. The following is a transcript from a chat with their customer service that ended moments ago:

06:41:16 PM [Brian] I'm curious about the sudden "Cheaper than Dirt does not sell firearms."
06:42:20 PM [Milo] Welcome to Cheaper Than Dirt! Tech Talk. My name is Milo.
06:42:42 PM [Brian] Hi.
06:43:18 PM [Milo] Hi Brian, we have temporarily halted sales to rework our system to handle the sudden increase in sales volume.
06:44:17 PM [Brian] Oh. Ok. What is the time-frame for resuming sales? I don't know if your company is aware but the timing of the change, corresponding with the tragic events in CT, has people wondering.
06:45:27 PM [Milo] I know it has people talking. But with the huge spike is sales we started to lose our customary order quality and changes must be made. We will get back up and running soon.
06:46:21 PM [Brian] Ok. Thank you for answering my questions. Glad to hear it.
06:47:04 PM [Milo] You are welcome. Can I do anything else for you?
06:47:10 PM [Brian] No, that's it.
06:48:10 PM [Milo] Have a good night and a merry Christmas
06:48:16 PM [Brian] You too.
06:48:39 PM [Brian] and thanks for still saying Merry Christmas too! ;-)
