Saw this on several new handguns...including the absolutely handsome Springfield ( wow. those look like nice guns ). Anyhooo - What happens if you "lose the key"? What if you forget that it is locked? Is this just a "placating the anti" device? Thoughts....please. Knox |

Simple. Unlock it once, then lose the key. That's what I did with my HK USPc .45. I keep it in a safe, so I don't need no stinkin' integrated lock.

IMHO, one great thing about this system is for times when you have to part with your firearm away from home. How many of us have left a handgun in the car while running into a post office or tavern? While it won't prevent theft, it will keep you from getting shot with your own gun when you get back to your car.
