LEE LOADER .243 Question.

Hi all ,

Just currently purchased the "lee loader" in .243.

Did my first batch of reloads as stated in the manual , and the dam thing produced some dam fine catridges! Im quite impressed with it cosidering its a $70NZ bit of kit.

Fired the rounds last night , and at 30mtrs i managed to blow a hole in a empty old shot shell i found on the ground. This is without any adjustment from factory rounds at all!.

I started with the "starting load" of 37.5grains of Winchester 760 propellant with 87grain projectiles, and that seams to be suffecient to knock things over ,

Question , how many percent from full load is starting load? im not in it for complete and total acurracy but i still want to be hitting and killing dear at 100+ meters. Is starting loads OK? i mean it would save powder too!

I have just orderd a lee case trimmer , as ive noticed that the 2nd time fired winchester brass some of them have streached beyond the max allowable case length , but this is understandable as from factory it was pushing a 100grain projectile with a fair bit of punch!

Anyhow im really happy with the product. for 70 bucks, i can do what you guys can do ( except full length resize ) for a fraction of the cost.

As for TIME to reload yes it takes longer....but i want it to be a hobby as well so if its all over in 1/2 hour that would suck!!!!

Anyone else got opinions on the product???

Craig

Lee Loaders have always been a fine option for small quantity reloading. I've never heard anyone state that they couldn't make good ammo with one.

If your point of impact with your reloads is the same as with factory ammo then it will kill deer just fine. Accuracy is more important than velocity.

Reduce the maximum load by 10% this will give you the starting load. Hodgdon loading data here> http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp
