Where to buy 1lb powder bottles?

Does anyone know where you can buy 1 pound BLACK PLASTIC smokeless gunpowder storage bottles?

First you buy them filled with powder, then save them afterward.

Otherwise, every manufacturer seems to have their own shapes for these things and the chances are they won't want to sell them for other powders to go into just out of liability concerns. I suggest you look at a supplier of plastic bottles into the chemical industry. See if you can find anti-static plastic, but if not, opt for amber or other light blocking and moisture blocking containers. I've never had a problem with polypropylene containers. You need to find bottles for about 18 fl.oz. size minimum to hold a pound of common rifle powders, and 20 fl.oz will give you a little extra room to play with.

What do you want to do with the containers? How many? What size? What shape? You looking to buy containers or scrounge for free ones?

"Plastic" is a somewhat loose term. Do you need HDPE, Nalgene, polyethylene, LDPE, polypropylene, ...? Without knowing your specific proposed purpose, it is a little difficult to point you in a particular direction. Please note that some powder can etch or "melt" certain types of "plastic".

If you're planning on storing powder, I suspect I'll not be the only one to warn you not to store powder in anything other than its original bottle.

Sources to check would be laboratory supply companies. Companies that come to mind are:

USA BlueBook, Fisher Scientific or Google search to find a number of companies who specialize in "plastic bottles."

Because I reload quite a bit and also for a lot of different ctgs., I usually buy my powder in #8 increments. I have kept my old 1# metal containers and transfer the power from the 8# to the properly marked 1#. When I get down to the last pound, I purchace another 8 pounds.

If it were me I would probably buy a 1 and 8 pound canister of each of the powers you use.... Use up the one pound first then start filling the empty from the larger.... I would pay a few dollars for an empty container.....add w few more $ and get a pound

How `bout the local drug store ???

They have the darkened 1s also , I have 2 that I put some pull down powder from an estate , just label it good then cover the label with packin tape.

I prefer to reuse powder containers (not necessarily the originals, but definitely labeled) but any opaque HDPE bottle with a good screw top will work. Small laundry detergent jugs work especially well.

Im sure not everyone does business the same but the sporting good store here in my town (very small business) will sell you 8 pound kegs either in the eight pound canisters or buy 8 single pounders (your choice). I know some want you to buy the canisters but I guess where I buy he stills gets to sell 8 pounds. Who knows. I would atleast ask...

I threw away about 6 or 7 empty powder canisters a couple days ago. I was saving them for a friend, then he decided he didnt want them. Sorry.

I just emptied 5 1 pound containers of H335. These are the cardboard with metal end types, but if you want them they're yours. PM me and let me know.

But they have a ez opening cap, it's just too bad the caps get lost.

Buying a 1 lb container might be slightly more expensive per lb than the 8 lb, but the price difference is what you wold be paying for the container.

In the old days I would have said to get some photo chemical bottles but home developing has gone by the way side.
