Sig SP2022 vs. p 229...

The SP2022 and P229 are very similar in dimension and performance yet the SP2022 is about $300 less. Is this because of it's material?

I am getting one ...

If material is the only difference between the SP2022 and P229, why would anyone buy the P229? Who cares. I am getting one SP2022 for myself since its a Sig.

At the price the SP2022 is going for you can't go wrong. The more I shoot mine the more I like it. Hammer-fired, good trigger, decocker, no safeties, simple take-down, light polymer frame, and of course price – that's what attracted me. The p229 is great too I'm sure. I might have bought one if I had the money and insisted on a non-polymer frame.

And oh yeah, if you do get the SP2022:
1) break it in with 124gr NATO spec ammo (if you going with the 9mm)
2) use grease on the slide, not just oil.
3) clean the gunk on the inside of the provided magazine(s)

Going with a SIG 229 in 22LR and .40. One for play and the other for stop-ability. Nice to practice with what you are actually going to use.

Just bought a SigPro last week. My local dealer in GA has them for $369 every day... excellent gun for that price. I couldn't pass it up.
