gun show supplies

supplies from the gun show, i have only been once mostly due to my work schedule and my bad luck but this 24th im off so i plan on heading down there to look for some cheeap powder and cheap bullets. when i was there i was concentrating in looking at the guns. nut i was wondering if any one has fouond some good deals at the gun shows. i know that you usually have to pay for parking and entrance, so i plan on buying in bulk. since i am reloading thousands of 223 i need at least an 8lb jug. as for the nine i can always buy a one pound at cabelas and have plenty left.

I was at a show this weekend and there some deals. Lots of powder of every size and the prices were very good for the stuff I buy anyway although I did not need any. Primers were $25 a thousand, all you want for Winchesters. CCI and Remingtons were a dollar or two higher. 55 grain FMJBT Hornady bullets were around 7 cents a piece

Handgun prices were all over the place - if you looked you could find bargains. Ar's were marked down like crazy but still plenty high in many cases. Found a deal who had some sweet anniversary rugers in various models and calibers, didn't buy a one but they were very desirable and seemed well worth the money.

Ended up all I bought were a couple ammo cans.

Next weekend is a biggy in Wichita, KS and it is fun to walk around and look and listen. have fun with it.

I haven't found a good deal on guns or components at gun shows for the last 20 years except on a rare occasion.

Reloading components are sky high at the gun shows around here. Cabelas even beats them every time but I find everything I need on the internet. Even with the hazmat charge I can still save money.........sad but true.

The show that I was at about 3 weeks ago had ZERO powder and not more than several thousand primers in the whole place and it was a HUGE show (in our area). The primers were priced from $25-$50 per thousand for what looked to be 10+ year old boxes. How those primers lasted through the REAL shortage during Obama-mania, I have no idea but there's no way that I'm paying those prices when I can order a couple pounds of powder and a couple thousand primers from Powder Valley and pay the same price even after the fees.

WOW - I must be pretty lucky here in the Midwest. I don't use a lot of different powders but there were tables full of it - all sizes as well. Great prices from what I could see as I was not in the market.

Primers were everywhere - a couple people tried to get 30 or more but there was too much competition from the people with good prices. This was what I would call a small show compared to you big city people.

I was amazed at the deals - especially if you looked hard. A lot of $25 over our cost signs and 10% off all long guns and "we will deal" so it was a buyers market for sure. I will see what this weekend brings.

Very few new guns at the local shows unless your into cowboy shooting, for the hunter or reloader virtually nothing. The sellers have mostly wore out guns and crafts! Most of my shooting supplies I've been able to pick up in Ashland, Ohio at Fin Feather and Fur while traveling. I agree with wnnchester about local availability of the things I need or want! William

Primers around here (New Mexico) are running around $35 - $45 per K. No deals there. Powder is also pretty high. I'd really suggest shopping around online and buying in bulk with a friend. You can get Wolf primers from Widener's for $18.50 so a few thou covers the haxmat fees. No tax either.

The one gun show around us is kind of a joke, the ones who have powder and primers are the local shop guys that go and they don't give any discount on the stuff they have. Right now I am just buying what I need to get loaded what I have but when things even out for us again I will be buying in bulk so that I have so much ammo on hand that a thief would just give up and walk away.
