colt agent 1st issue
I have just recently purchased a barely used colt agent 1st issue at a cheap price and was wondering on the date of manufacture serial # is a82### and aprox value, condition is very good to near excellent. Also wondering on best defensive ammo to use with this older lw aluminum frame.

Welcome Krusty. I can't put my hands on my Colt mfg date book right now. In my light snubs, I use the 130gr FMJ for range and the Federal 125gr Nyclad HP, a standard pressure load designed for the light snubbie.

Late 1969
I come up with a 1969 date. Numbers started at a84,000 in 1970.
Guess on value is just that without photos. I paid 300 for this first year -1956 - with the shroud three years ago. I am sure they have gone up since then. Factory Speer lawman 158 lead shoots to the sights for me. The load I carry though is Lyman's 170 gr. 358429 cast hard with 4.5 grs. Herco. You know when it goes off. This load benches 3" above P.O.A. at 25 yds., but it hits right on for me point and hip shooting closer targets. My take, JT |
