40 S&W Load Data suggestions for 140gn lead....
Anyone have any load data for Missouri Bullet IDP #7? That would be a 140 Grain TCFP w/ a Brinnel of 18.
I will be using these in a Stoeger Cougar 8040F, 3.5" barrel. I have Blue Dot, Unique, AA7 and HS6. Last edited by Scrapperz; April 5, 2010 at 04:54 PM. |

UPDATE
If anyone has any thoughts on this please let me know, maybe you have some good info for me.
I went with the lightest load for the 150 lead bullet in the Lyman 49th as a safe starting load. I already loaded 20 of these using 8.3 grains of Blue Dot and an OAL of 1.125" which puts the base of the bullet just on top of the powder. I also put a light crimp using the Lee Factory Crimp Die. I wanted to add I'm using Wolf SP's. Of course I'm gonna be watching very carefully when I go to test these. I was thinking of trying 5 grains of Unique also as a start using the same OAL. |

I've been using 5gr of Winchester Super Target and an OAL of 1.125" for these. They chrono at an average of 1046.3 with a SD of 16, fired from my FS S&W M&P with a 4.25" barrel. Makes for a PF of 146.
Nice load for plinking. Tack drivers that don't feel "hot." PS. Lose the crimp. Use just enough to get rid of the flare. |
