shortened grip on kahr tp45
I'm looking at buying a kahr tp45 this weekend. I looked at the other 45's they make, but prefer the 4'' barrel. I plan on using it in my carry rotation. Has anyone cut the frame down to take either the 5 round pm45 mag or the 6 round p45 mag to aid in concealment? Do you think shortening the frame would void the warranty? Thanks for your time. -NRAFan.

I would think at the very least it would void anything failing in the remaining frame including any cracks.

Kahr did a run on pistols that were, if memory serves me correct, K9 frames cut down to a MK grip. I think it was the "Covert" line. So with that, I would contact Kahr and ask if they could do it for you. Best case scenario they do it and it's all covered under warranty. Worst case they try and sell you a PM45.

Perhaps you can get the PM45 and buy the P45 barrel? Ask Kahr.

I've seen many P9s cut down to Coverts, which were offered factory made from Kahr at one time. Theoretically, all you have to do is cut the grip in the right spot; long enough to not have a gap between grip and mag base and short enough that the mag snaps in securely. If you are handy with a dremmel it should't be too difficult.
If it were me, I'd start by cutting down to the P45 size first. ![]() Here's a link to one conversion thread. http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthre...ghlight=covert |

Well I emailed kahr last night. This was their response: "Unfortunately we do not offer any service to shorten the grips on our pistols, and it will void the warranty." So I guess that answers that. It seems to me that it wouldn't be that much of an issue to cut the grip. I may as well just get the gun reliable and then cut the grip if I want it shorter. Thanks for the help.
