My questions: Why, when I post a reply, does the edit button show in the lower right hand corner? It doesn't on other people's posts. Also, I can't seem to get the quote thing to work. I've tried using brackets around what I want to quote, but it doesn't work for me. What am I doing wrong?

You are permitted to edit your own posts for up to 4 days after submission. The button is missing on other member's posts because it certainly wouldn't be very user friendly if everyone was allowed to edit anyone else's posts, would it?

OK. That makes sense. This is the first forum I've ever been a part of and I just didn't know how they work. Thanks for bringing me into the 21st century.

It sure would be satisfying sometimes, though...

Actually, it appears that those editing rights are the prize for high post counts mentioned in the "post count" thread.
