Thumbhole stock for Savage 116, with box mag?

I have a Savage Model 116, in stainless, with the detachable box magazine. That'd be this'n right here, I believe.

I've been trying like the dickens to find a stock maker who has this action inlet available in a thumbhole stock. I can't find anybody who says they do, except for a couple of places who tell me they'll be happy to make me a custom design, if I send in my rifle, and spend more on the stock than I did on the weapon in the first place. I don't need a "press-fit" inlet, just something reasonable I can take to my smith and have bedded.

Does anybody know of a stock maker who has a thumbhole stock available for this action, with the detachable magazine? In terms of style, I like this one here... thumbhole, with the high cheek rest. [I called that company a year ago or so, and they couldn't tell me whether or not they could make a stock that fit.]

How does the inlet for the detachable-magazine version differ from that of the non-detachable mag? Are they, maybe, identical and I should just order the regular version's stock?

I guess, failing all that, is there some way that I can reduce the pull length of the factory synthetic stock? It's about half an inch too long for my little t-rex arms, making it really painful to shoot--not that it stops me. I've taken the recoil pad off to have a look, but the butt is hollow, with two bosses for the screws, and a piece of dense styrofoam to keep the stock from compressing... I don't see any way to cut it down without ruining the bosses.

They inlet for the 116. If you need to trim a bit more for the magazine, who cares. That's a lot less work than finishing the stock will be.

Remember, too, that a good stock is often nearly half the cost of a hunting rifle. If you want a custom gun, you have to spend a few bucks.

So what you're saying is that the detachable magazine and the non-detachable magazine rifles are similar enough that the action inletting is going to be basically the same? That only minor alterations would likely be necessary? Is it closer to the "top-loading" version, or the "hinged floorplate" version?

I ask because, aside from looking at the manuals online, I've never examined any Savage rifle but my own. So I'm pretty ignorant on the subject.
