I took a swig of the Kool Aid and....I liked it
I don't know how it happened. I'm a confirmed revolver and 1911 fan. I've owned a few handguns that didn't fit into that group, but they're few and NEVER made of plastic. But I gave my favorite carry 1911 over to a local gunsmith for some overhauling and was looking at the next couple of months without it, so I decided to use that as an excuse to buy a new one. With nothing but the innocent idea of picking up another compact 1911 of some sort I headed to the gunshops. Went by one place that rented guns for use on their range and somehow found myself asking to try a Glock 30. I don't know why. Before I knew what I was doing I was on the range with the shops well worn 30 sending rounds downrange and (Gulp!) grinning. Against my will I found myself agreeing with the range boss about how the 30 would make a decent carry gun. Agreeing with him that it was an easy shooting piece and pretty danged accurate. And more to my horror, on my way home I saw a black case that said GLOCK right on it sitting on my passenger seat! I'm not sure how, but I bought one of the used 30's that was in their case. What the heck happened? It's like the little gun put a spell on me then made me take her home. To be honest though, I'm actually becoming a huge fan. The bigger guns still don't fit my hand right, but the 30's short frame points as naturally for me as any gun I've held. I guess, as far as the 30's concerned anyway, I'm now a.......Glock fan. (Shudder)

I have shot 1911's and cz pattern guns and i find a glock does not point the same . Close your eyes and point like its your colt and then see where it is pointing and see if you can see the whole top of the gun. Just felt odd to me. I do like new ruger sr9,pont like the 1911.

No kool-aid for me. They may be remarkable pistols but I just don't like them.

I have sipped lots of guns I said I would..
..not buy, but one thing I have to say is that they were all guns. I am always perplexed when people love only one style of gun and hate all others. Certainly we all have our favorites, but they all make me smile when I shoot em so far. I keep trying to avoid sipping diffrent flavors but I cant help it, guess I need a 3rd job -

To each his own. |

I used to be just like you, swore I would never own a Glock. The grip angle was my biggest concern. One day I ran across a used one at a price that was dirt cheap. I thought I would just buy it, try it for a while just to confirm how bad they were and then be able to sell it at a profit.
I found that the Glock grip angle really is better. I still love my 1911's and Sig better, but I have no trouble going back and forth with them. I still don't love them, but if I have to reach for a handgun that I trust to save my live it will be one of my 5 Glocks. |

did you find any compact 1911's around I have been looking all over Michigan for one.
I shot the Glock and it did not feel that great in my hand. I fell for the M&P myself but then I caught the 1911 addiction and that is all I carry and mostly what I shoot at the range. |

Don't worry, Wraith...
This sort of thing happens from time to time. It's sort of like being married, the novelty wears off after a bit and reality returns.
It can be expensive, but it's all temporary. |

I love 1911s and carry them but I respect Glocks tremendously. I just don't like them. Grip angle is wrong, blocky feeling, etc. I do own a couple of SW M&Ps but I still like my 1911s better.
