You will need the dies for each caliber you want to load and the corresponding Dillon caliber conversion kit. The kit comes with the shell plate, 3 buttons to hold the cases into the turret, and the the case mouth expander. If you have the money it is worth getting the big kit that includes the caliber conversion, a bulk head for the dies, and another powder drop. That way there is no need to do the long setup each time you change calibers. I am very happy with the Dillon 550 but I only use it for handgun. It doesn't make since for the rifle rounds since there are many more steps.

You didn't state the Dilllon press you were using. It will make a difference.

What cartridges is your father loading?

You may already have the shellplate, and you can use your dads powder measure.

Quick Changeover Kit = Toolhead, TH Stand and Powder Measure;
Caliber Conversion Kit = Shellplate, locator buttons, powder funnel;
