stiff mosin nagant bolt
I have a m/n model 1938 and after firing the bolt is very stiff to open. I've read that some operated smoothly and some are hard like mine. my question is, is there a fix for the stiff bolt.

Kyle my 44 had the same issue, similar anyway. I just rubbed it down with 00 steel wool for a while, trying it between polishings til it was right. Don't put oil on it first.

I had the same problem also. I took a bore brush big enough to fit in the chamber and put it on a cleaning rod then I spun it with a drill. All it took was a little spinning for about 10 seconds to clean it up. I also used acetone to clean out any laquer residue from the steel case cartridges. be careful with the acetone it could ruin the finish on your stock
You could have a bur in the chamber also that is holding on to the casing. Check the rim of the chamber and check your casings for clues as to where it is sticking. |
