Your favorite .41 magnum handload....

I only use two different loadings.

210gr GD over 22grs of H-110 CCI 350

230gr KT over 17.5grs of 2400 WLP

I just realized I've never chrongraphed these two loads good excuse to go to the range today.

Tell us how they turn out Nate.

I will tell you that my Speer book lists 20.0 grains of H-110 with a magnum primer as a max load, but this book is probably outdated.

215 gr LSWC over 7.9 gr of Bullseye for about 1195 fps
220 gr JHP over 14.5 gr of Blue Dot for 1300 fps

My absolute fave 210 XTP-HP, 17.6 gr 2400, CCI 350.
Also, if you like hodgdon H110, 21.6 gr, XTP-HP 210, CCI 350.
I had a third recipe I started with years ago, it involved herco and 170 grain sports master bullets. I forget the grain weight for the powder.

My .41 Magnum Loads

Since they are to be fired in a 657 S&W the lads were downsiized so as not to blow the gun up...
210 or 220 grain bullets:
17.5 grains of 2400
8.0 grains of UNIQUE [The old police load.]
5.0 grains of UNIQUE [My PPC load.]

My current favorite for a full-power load uses AA No. 7. Not sure of the weight at the moment, but it feels, recoil wise, VERY similar to the Remington 210-gr. JSP ammo that is such a thumper at both ends.

I've also loaded lighter loads using 231, and have dones some loads using 296, but haven't been as happy with them.

Note that these loads were safe in MY guns- yours may vary, and you should work up: 210 JSP, RP case, 20.4 gr. WW 296, CCI 350.. RCBS cast 41-210-SWC sized .410 WW case, 19.0 of 2400, CCI 300. Lyman 410610 GC, RP case, 17.5 of 2400, CCI 300. Lyman 410459 220 gr. sized .410, RP case, 18.0 of 2400, CCI 300. RCBS cast bullet, WW case, 21.0 of WW 296, CCI 350. Use a firm case neck tension and a firm crimp. Trim your cases to get the same crimp on all your loads. Absolute favorite load; RCBS cast bullet sized .410, WW case, 10.0 of SR 4756, CCI 300. This load is 1/2 gr. over some max. listed in some data; was a one hole load at 25 yds. in my 4 inch M57. Some Rugers will have shorter chambers, and you may not be able to load all 6 chambers with the RCBS bullet. You will have to use the Lyman 410459. Enjoy. CB

hmmmm....fav......

Fav is my IPSC load consisting of a CCI300-ignited 210/215g LSWC over 7.3g Universal Clays; Redding Profile Crimp die.

It makes over 200PF ALWAYS, and is accurate and controllable.

IME AA9 provides the best accuracy at high velocities; H110 and W296 and N110 offer higher velocity potential.

Sierra's 170g JHC is an accurate hard-hitting bullet.

No! It rained that day and I forgot to do it.

I'm writing it down.
