CH Case Trimmer-Anybody heard of?
I was poking around an old gun shop last night and up on the top shelf was a faded box I could barely reach. Said "CH Tool & Die Co." "El Monte, CA" on the box.
Inside was a lathe-type case trimmer with two case holders. Cutter was gummed up and the case holders had a bit of surface rust, but I kinda like old things so I took the whole works home for the grand sum of $15. I'd been thinking of getting an LE Wilson or Forster case trimmer for awhile, so I'm hoping this one is a decent brand. Looks to be of good quality, but have any of you had any experience with this brand? Now I gotta figure out which case holders I need for .30/06 & .30-30. If anybody owns one of these, your help would be appreciated! |

C&H used to make a pretty full range of reloading equipment. I still have and use an old C press they made 30 some years ago. It still works fine and was well made. I "think" C&H was bought out by Hornady some years ago.

I woulnd't spend money on it unless you can drive it with a motor. It's worth a couple bucks more, especially if you can use a cordless drill or screwdriver to turn it.

Yep. I googled until I found them, and spoke today with a guy named Dave Davison. He gave me lots of interesting info on the company. They specialize in unusual and wildcat dies and trimmers. He helped me put an approximate date on the trimmer I picked up last night. He also said the CH trimmer will accept LE Wilson case holders. Interesting. The company was started in California, and after several ownership changes, is now in Ohio.
