Bad,
A little punctuation would make your post MUCH easier to read. Steve, "NEVER let someone else shoot thru YOUR Chrony. NEVER." AMEN!!! "My name is Steve, and I'm a Glockaholic." Condolences!!! ![]() Good shooting and be safe. LB |

Sabots can be a bit rough on chronographs, as well.
![]() I was trying to chronograph some .30 cal 200-grain Sierra Game King bullets with polycarbonate sabots out of my .50 BMG rifle. A sabot fragment center-punched the display on my "Pro Tach" and broke a bunch of stuff inside. It also knocked the chronograph and tripod into the dirt. ![]() Competition Electronics replaced it for $24.50 + $5 S&H. They have a good accident policy. ![]() |

geez really sucks i think i agree that you shouldn't let people shoot through your chronograph at least he didn't shoot the box itself just the cheap parts

There are two types of shooters using a chrony. Those that have shot their chrony and those that will shoot their chrony.

I have never allowed someone else to shoot over my Chrony. I use a small folding table to set my Chrony on and I welded up 2 pieces of 3/8" steel plate into a "V" that I put on its side in front of the unit.. just in case,, even I miss. My theory is that the steel plate "should" deflect a near hit of the actual unit.

Use wooden dowels to hold up the skyscreens.

I only shot one...
...and only a little...
But it broke anyway. So I replaced it. At the time, Chrony was offering trade-ins on shot up Chronys and it didn't cost me as much as it might have. Still felt stupid. |

Rivers: I use the little wood dowels I get at the local hardware too. They are cheat and will just cut away in the event of a missed shot, not get mangled like the wire does.

I've "killed" three Chrony's in 22 years (actually, I killed one and my son two). If they aren't complete rubble, the company will fix them at a fair price...

gettin' smarter
When you get smarter you buy a chronograph with 'brain' separate from 'stuff you accidently shoot'.

Use EXTREME caution when approaching a wounded chronograph. Might not be a bad idea to shoot it again before approaching it. Better yet, have a buddy back you up.
