George,

I just purchased an Olympic arms NM barrel for my Springfield 1911A1 Govt. The guy at
Olympic said it was pretty close to a "pre-
fit" type barrel. Questions: Why
do handloads drop in the chamber and seat to the proper depth and factory ammo such as Fiocchi, Speer Gold Dot and CCI Blazer not seat all the way? I'm pretty sure the chamber needs to be reamed for the right head spacing. What does this cost?

If you purchased a brand new barrel, why worry about how much reaming costs. Call Olympic and tell them what is wrong. You should get satisfaction. Sending back the barrel will cost less than having it fixed and be quicker.
