anybody seen any or know where I can find some for a 1911??
I know about the carbon fiber but it is harder and slicker than micarta, I think. I like the feel of bead blasted micarta. |

Smith & Alexander has them. I have the black ones on a Para Ordinance P-12.

Thanks for the help!
I finally found S&As web site and called. pair of smooth black micarta panels are on thier way. If they are not already 'matte' I'll bead blast them bfore I put them on. I hope I like it as well on my .45 as I do on my knife! |

I was going to suggest KING'S GUN WORKS, they show checkered linen micarta grips in their catalog. I don't have their web site address.

Jim V, thanks for the info. I might give King's a try also.
update on the S&A grips. They came in a couple days ago. They are NOT linen, but are smooth micarta (phenolic resin? without the linen matrix). I like the way the linen mic contours and textures. not slick like these. But, today I bead-blasted them and they turned out pretty nice, dull matte grey. I'll try em for awhile, see how I like em. I wasn't trying too hard for looks, these are on a tactical .45. |

You might consider the "bonded bone" from Get A Grip :
