Anybody else here addicted to 3 gun?
I've gotten into 3 gunning this year, and I've got to say that they are by far my favorite type of match.
I use a 1911, 870, and FAL. Funny my best finishes so far have been in 3 gun matches. It seems like most of the people who do it locally are usually hard core pistol competitors, but it seems like most of them aren't nearly as smooth and practiced with shotgun or rifle. Anybody else? |

I like them, but they are few and far between. Usually because not everyone has a rifle, they put the rifle match at the end, or run them concurrently, and it's a mess, organizationally speaking. I wish they had more shotgun stages, and less pistol stages. Most 2 or 3-gun matches I go to are 4 to 5 pistol stages, one shotgun stage and 1 optional rifle stage.
I shoot my Beretta, a Benelli and an M1A. |

Oh Heck yeah
I love 3 gun. We only have them 4 times a year so that really adds to the fun. I think 3 gun is a good break for regular USPSA matches.
I use a CZ75ST IPSC, SAR3 and a Browning Gold. |

Nope.
Of course, that's mainly because there are not 3 gun matches in the state, AFAIK.

I wish I could shoot an IPSC match with just my rifle.

I've got to do one 3-gun match so far and it was fun when we actually got to shoot. Unfortunately, without any formal 3-gun association, 90% of the match was spent (by others) bickering over variations of rules, safety, and they were doing course design on the fly - which didn't help.
Had it been better organized, I'm sure it would have been great. I also noticed the same thing that Correia did WRT most being less smooth with shotgun and rifle. |

Just getting into it...
pretty fun..there is one organization on the front range that runs a match using three different clubs..I think it is called Rocky Mountain 3-gun club.. Then another club in Pueblo that shoots two- gun.. rifle pistol one month, then shotgun pistol the next.. I shoot whatever I have ammo for and can borrow.. |

I guess I'm lucky because we have some good ones. Probably 4 or 5 times a year. Well organized 9 or 10 stages. And we have them at a big police training facility with some great ranges. They are organized by a couple of guys from the local IDPA club, who do a great job.

I've shot a half-dozen 3-gun matches, and they are much fun. Sometimes the breakdown of the divisions is "unfair", but only if you don't select equipment specifically for 3-gun. I went to a match that allowed a scope on one gun and a comp on another, or something like that, which meant if you didn't have a race gun in your holster and a scope on your rifle, you were kinda screwed. I've shot mostly with a 1911, M590 and M1 Carbine.
Some of the other guys that help run our IDPA club just bought M1A's, and I just got a Garand, so we're planning a "7.62 Match"; trying to adapt IDPA rules to long guns might make for some interesting CoF's. |

Yeah, it is addicting.
Our club is in the process of setting up the 2003 Texas 3-Gun Championship (or the Area 4 Three-Gun Championship, still discussing that) next year down here in San Angelo. Oh, we started small...offering a single rifle and a single shotgun stage before our monthly IPSC matches. Next thing you know, we were out by the highway holding signs saying "will load 5.56 for match fees". Sigh. Still debating if I like Limited (6" STI .40, Winchester SX2 Practical, M4 Carbine) or Open (racegun, USAS-12, HBAR). And then there is my new M14SA... Alex |

LOVE THEM! I could shoot them every month! After doing the 3 gun shoots, the IDPA shoots are not as fun. Wish we had more of them than just the 4 or 5. But I will take what I can get.
See ya at the next one. Riz |

Yep, August 31st. I'm stoked.
Hey Riz, did you see the scores last time. I was 8th, even with tanking stage 1. (it helps if you actually neatralize the targets, don't ask me how you can miss an IDPA target 10 yards away with a slug). I won stage 9, the big rifle stage. Yee Haw! ![]() ![]() |

Ya I saw that you won the stage! So check this out, I shoot the stage with my brand new Vepr K 7.62 x 39. I shoot this stage fast, accurate, smooth...felt way good! I have people standing by me saying "he did that with an AK?" So the results came out and Im thinking that I just might have taken this stage.....BUT NO....some dude, Corriea, had to beat me....but he did not only beat me....he spanked me.
He had a bigger round and shot it almost 10 seconds faster ![]() stage 9 Corriea: 23.93 Riz: 31.37 Damn good shooten bud, next time we on the same squad...maybe you can show me how its done! Riz Oh BTW...on the one stage by the brick wall, Stage 5?, I missed 2 of the 3 targets with slugs. SO I WON...oh wait missing is bad...Never mind. |
