Okay, I am assuming that you are refering to the rear leaf sight blade. It is actually pretty easy.
1. Put the rifle in a gun vise or have some other means of locking it down. 2. Get a 6" piece of 1/2" wooden hardwood dowel or a large faced punch. 3. Get a rag large enough to ball up in the palm of your hand. 4. Using the dowel or punch, push on the far end of the leaf sight. This can take a good deal of force. When the leaf is at the bottom of the travel, try to push towards the rear while keeping downward pressure. (If the dowel or puch is hurting your hand, wrap it in the rag to cushion you palm) 5. You will feel the sight drop into a relief in the sight houseing. Then with your third hand, grab the leaf and pull towards the rear of the rifle. 7. Viola, the sight is out. To install, simply slide the new sight into the channels inside the housing. Push it all the way back and push down to lock. Use the rag to mop up any of your blood that spilled all over the work bench. It actually is easier to do than describe. Oh, the leaf spring slids under two ears inside the sight housing. Peen the ears down with the spring in place. |

great description of process, very graphic
![]() still having dificulty though.. sight is out, so I have complete sight and leaf spring. I put leaf spring in then sight...leaf spring falls out it seems there is not enough upward pressure to get the sight to lock into base. Can the spring be bent wrong? Or is the installer defective ![]() thanks for response any additional help is greatly appreciated. 6946 |
