Getting a new toy...

Okay - I've had a Savage 110 action sitting around - Had it trued by Paul Dorsey last year, and I've been waffling over what to do with it.

So, here's the scoop. I've got a friend who has a Shilen Select Match 6PPC barrel that he's never been able to get to shoot. I suspect that the guy just didn't have the patience to try the right things. I'm paying him $125 for it. It'll then go out to Ron Hoehn, who'll cut off the action stub, and rechamber it for 6BR, since the 110 action has a .308 boltface.

I'm probably going to screw the action into a McMillan benchrest stock, altho I'm also leaning toward Bill Shehane's. Trigger will be a Sharpshooter Supply.

Update: Taking the action, and one of my "not quite as good as my best" benchrest barrels out to the gunsmith on Saturday. Just talked to Fred Moreo at Sharpshooters Supply, and he's making a benchrest-profile (3" flat forearm) for me, and he should have a two ounce trigger available in August.
