Steyr M9 Questions
I was at the gunshow today and noticed on the Steyr M series, there appears to be two types of finish. The first was on a pistol with the handcuff key lock and was a parkerized grayish lookin finish. The second was on a "civilian" type key and was a more black and smoother finish. What gives? Also, how can you tell which have had the trigger mods done? Thanks to the Steyr experts.
P.S. I should have kept my S9 ![]() So, now I am looking to trade my P99 QPQ 9mm for an M9/S9 in Georgia, any takers PM me. Thanks! |

I have never heard of two types of finishes. Maybe one was parkerized by a former owner.
As for the trigger upgrade, the position of the pin (or roll-in) in the trigger seems to be an indicator. The following web page illustrates that of the original trigger(note that the pin in the trigger is positioned lower): http://www.remtek.com/arms/steyr/mss...ties/index.htm The following web page shows that of the upgraded trigger (note that the pin in the trigger is positioned higher): http://www.steyr-mannlicher.com/Pistolen/sicherung.htm |

Thanks Doc, I had not noticed this before until they were side by side, but it was on several different guns. I wonder if these were the CDNN ones they were letting out the door for the mid 300's? Oh man I miss my S9.

My S9 came from CDNN recently, and it has the all-black finish, just like my M40. Apparently, all of their S9s are gone, as their latest Shotgun News ad no longer lists them.
