man attacked by bobcat while calling turkey
Saw this on YouTube, happened in central Alabama, near Selma. An 82 yr old gent was set up and calling a gobbler and was ambushed by a bobcat! There's a blurb on Youtube concerning the episode, a simple search should give you a link.
I've been buzzed by a hawk and and owl, and stalked by a coyote (twice) while chasing gobblers, now I'll have to worry about bobcats ![]() |

I saw some stuff on Youtube as well. A brief search and you can find it.

I had a similar experience with a coyote. It came sniffing around looking for the hen who was making all that noise.
I wouldn't normally consider 2 ounces of #4 lead a coyote load, but it worked just fine in this instance.

At his age he went out alone? I hope he's alright - cats can do a lot of damage very quickly, but they can't take damage at all.

I've spotted bobcat and coyote stalking me while calling both turkey and ducks. None got closer than 10-20' before figuring out I wasn't what they were looking for. At least as far as I know. I'm sure some may have gotten closer, and I never knew it.
I did have a bobcat let me get within inches before it bolted once. My brother and I were walking to a beaver pond to duck hunt one morning before sunup. It was a full moon, and I didn't need a light to see. Moon was bright enough to leave my shadow on the ground. I put my right foot down and caught movement inches away. Something bolted and ran across the trail behind me. I didn't see it clearly enough to identify it, but my brother who was 10' behind me said it was a bobcat.

We have lots of bobcats in Maine but they tend to be reclusive--though I have seen a couple set up homestead within the town I live in. We have Lynx as well--but they are much more rare. The bobcats come around at night and I hate the screech they make--some of the noisiest animals there are. We have fishercats as well (I think they are some of the coolest animals in the woods)--I've run into them hunting in the winter and they are docile as long as you don't take them by surprise--but they are afraid of almost nothing and have been known to take on bobcats. Locals swear we have mountain lions--though I have never seen any evidence of them.

I was doing some rural technical work out in the rolling plains of Texas. I left to get some supplies from town, left my coworker in his truck while I was gone. It was a nice day so he was sitting in the cab with the windows open. When I returned to the site there was a bobcat creeping towards my coworker sitting in the truck. Wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t see it myself. As I got closer it ran off.
Told my partner that there was a bobcat stalking him, in a few more words of course. I don’t think he believed me.
