"It feels like a million bucks in your hands."
Uh, no it doesn't..can't feel a thing. Please box it up and send it to me to evaluate your statement! Nice looking S&W, been partial to them for a long time. |

Not sure what you need to know but some general info --
This is what is known as a third generation Smith and Wesson semi-autos. As a class, they are highly respected. The first two numerals, "39," indicates it is a single stack 9mm. The third numeral, "5," means it is double action only (DAO), compact. The last number, "3," means it has an aluminum alloy frame. It uses the same magazine as the 3913 (I have one), the 3914, the 908, and a couple of other models. It should make a fine concealed carry gun or even a bedside gun. |

The gun is DAO but has no second strike capability without working the slide. The triggers are usually very smooth and for a double action the pull is relatively short. The reason the pull is short is because the slide pre-cocks the hammer about 50%. That is the reason for the longer slide, to keep the cocked hammer from being exposed. The trigger pull will usually be about 10 lbs but will seem lighter because of the short length and the smoothness. If you like shooting revolvers you will like shooting this gun also.

I just field stripped the Gun and cleaned it. It showed excellent, max maybe 50 rounds through it. I shot three rounds perfectly!!
Big thanks to "GardandGuns" who posted a field strip of a S&W 3913 on youtube. Great Video!! I just needed a little help. I am not new to Guns. I spent four years in the Marine Corps. I'm Rusty though. I appreciate all the help I get here. Priceless !!! Semper Fi Charlie |

I have a 4046 which was my son's duty gun, before they switched to the S&W 99 which they didn't keep very long. Then went to the S&W M&P. Anyway I love the third gen smiths. When holding it you know you have a GUN in your hands. Functions flawlessly. The only problem I have is after field stripping it the slide is extremely hard to get back on the frame. I mean it's so tight that I have had to force it back on with a rubber mallet. I have looked this pistol over real good and don't see anything out of the ordinary that would cause this. Anyone else ever have this problem. My son said it's always been that way, but it's just not normal.

These are some of my favorite model years of S&W Semi-autos. The 5906 was my all time favorite though I love them all.
Congratulations,....I would love to have another one and will some day....1911 is next though ![]() Unless I get one in a trade for something I already have! |
