Since this was printed, the TV news reported that there were between 5 and 8 assailants, adn this is just one in a string of similar/related robbery attempts.

Between 5 and 8 assailants...sounds like Mini 14/AR15 territory to me.

Almost any functioning firearm would have most likely sufficed. These animals that make these break ins are not the bravest or smartest slime in the world. As they are either breaking down the door or just after they have and are in the process of entering, and the lead man takes a load of 12 gauge 00 buck smack between the eyes and it removes his head neatly and the blood begins spurting 3 or 4 feet in the air, the others will usually discover REAL QUICK that they have relatives in another state that they want to visit NOW. If not then the 2nd or 3rd round of buck will suffice. A mini-14/AR15 is not the best either for removing heads, or firing it in an apartment complex.
